Course Memo

This online course will introduce participants to the core tenets of Islamic faith and practice with a special focus on interreligious dialogue and engagement. While focusing on foundational texts, central beliefs, and the diverse ways in which Muslims practice and interpret their faith, we will explore key elements of Islamic theology, spirituality, worship, pilgrimage, the establishment of Islamic thought and institutions, the role of women, and contemporary interfaith initiatives. This course will also offer resources to counter Islamophobia and an opportunity to learn about and engage with Islamic organizations and communities.  Participants will share reflections, engage in group discussions, and develop dialogical models for interfaith collaboration around key course themes. This course is designed for students in Online Interrelgious Studies Certificate program, but is available to MDiv and MA/MTS students as well.  [Auditors excluded]
