ACADEMIC FORUM, CAPSTONE 1 (MA-4901)

(09/05/2023-12/15/2023)

Course Memo

The Academic Forum is a four-semester course required of all DSPT MA students, designed to develop skills for master’s level theological and philosophical research, writing, and professional dissemination. In Academic Forum, Capstone 1, normally taken in the 1st semester of their final year in the MA program, students continue to practice research skills by presenting published journal articles and leading the class (or a subgroup) in a discussion. Based on their program and learning goals, and with approval of the instructor, students are to determine the modality of their capstone (paper, thesis, or project), according to set guidelines to be provided. Students then share their preliminary ideas with participants in the forum, and then present a prospectus or plan for their capstone. During the scheduled day and time, the course meets on four to six of the weeks of the semester, to be arranged. For DSPT MA students only.
