READING THE BOOK OF THE TWELVE (OT-4950)

(06/12/2023-06/23/2023)

Course Memo

This course is based on this premise: how people have interpreted and been influenced by an ancient text like the Book of the Twelve is often as exciting and historically significant as what it originally meant. The course focuses on the analysis of most of the prophetic books in the Book of the Twelve to: gain respect for the antiquity and cultural remoteness of these prophetic writings, grapple with the variety of their possible meanings, and develop hermeneutical skills and voices as responsible interpreters, aware of our social locations in relationships to power and privilege. Course meets weekdays, 6/12/23-6/23/23 (excluding 6/19/23), from 2-5:30pm at CDSP.  [Introduction to the Old Testament]
