Course Memo
This class introduces students to the Wisdom writings of the Bible. It will acquaint students with the historical context of their emergence and the theological questions which they elicit, especially with respect to the interaction between post-exilic Judaism and the ancient Near Eastern and Hellenistic traditions. The course employs a lecture / discussion format, and evaluates student progress with exams, short writing assignments, and other paper options. The course is equivalent to OT-2600 Wisdom Literature; it is intended for MDiv and MA/MTS students, with Introduction to Sacred Scripture or equivalent as a prerequisite. The course will be delivered using remote modalities (including Zoom and Moodle). [Intro to Sacred Scriptures or equivalent]
