THEO/SPIRIT OF PRIESTHOOD (STSP-2600)

This course is designed for candidates preparing for ordination to the Roman Catholic Priesthood. It will examine a contemporary sacramental and ecclesial understanding of presbyteral orders, some reflection upon the biblical foundations for priesthood as they occur in the Old and New Testaments, and some reflection on contemporary religious life in the Catholic Church. Historical, Conciliar and papal documents will also form part of the content of the course. Teaching methods includes lectures, discussions, short papers, and a final paper. This course is required of all Jesuit scholastics in their 2nd or 3rd year of the MDiv Program. [Faculty consent required; 25 max enrollment]
