INTRODUCTION TO WORSHIP (LSHS-1100)

Course Memo

This course introduces students to the study of liturgy and its practice in worshipping communities. We will examine the nature of ritual; dimensions of Christian liturgy, including symbol, space, time, texts, and music; and the historical development of Christian liturgy, with some attention to the development of worship in Anglican tradition. Evaluation includes written assignments, projects, and a final exam. Intended for students (MDiv, MA, MTS) who are preparing for ordination and/or liturgical leadership. Course meets M-F 6/3/24-6/14/24 (excluding T 6/11/24) from 8am-9:45am at CDSP. [Auditors with faculty permission]
