SACRAMENTS: EUCHARIST AND ORDERS (ST-3071)

This course will help students to deepen their systematic theological reflection on the sacraments in general and on each of the seven sacraments, with a particular focus on the sacraments of Eucharist and Holy Orders. The Roman Catholic tradition as exemplified in the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas, with reference to its historical context, will provide the basis for reflection. Students completing the course will be able to explain, discuss, and apply the insights gained here for preaching, catechesis, liturgy, and further theological studies. Format: Lecture and discussion. Requirements: assigned readings, weekly questions & comments in response to assigned readings, 2 essays of 300-1000 words, brief presentations, annotated bibliography, and a final exam. Intended Audience: MDiv or MA Theology students; other graduate students admitted with permission.
