PASTORAL LAY LEADERSHIP - WHAT IS IT? (PS-2739)

(01/31/2022-05/20/2022)

Course Memo

Working in a Church context is complex. The demands of a Church expect organizational efficiency, without focusing solely on the financial results. It’s a delicate balance to blend traditional ministries and contemporary leadership practices. But, they can coexist. Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord expresses the US Church’s strong desire for the fruitful collaboration of ordained and lay ministers who, in distinct but complementary ways, continue in the Church the saving mission of Christ for the world, his vineyard. Since the document's publication in 2005, by the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops, many Dioceses have adopted the guidelines outlined, in an effort to recognize the value to blending the mission of the church and the needs for transparent leadership. The course will offer insights about negotiating the challenge of establishing policies and practices that integrate Gospel values and best organizational practices. Offered on Saturday, March 12, 9:00-4:00 pm. Intended for MDiv and MTS students.
