THE ART OF DISCERNMENT (SP-2499)

Treats the theory and practice of discernment. For the online format, you begin your formal work no later than the end of October: prior to the intensive, you will read the required materials, engage in one spiritual practice, and prepare a draft paper covering the readings. During the intensive, you will discern an issue of your own choosing, demonstrate contemplative listening skills by serving as spiritual companion for peers' discernment and function as a member of a discerning group. The intensive will be conducted via ten Zoom sessions, two per day. Following the intensive you will revise your first assignment based on the assigned readings and reflect on your spiritual accompaniment of a person or group in your ministry setting. Course meets daily, 1/10/23-1/14/23 from 9am-5pm, at SFTS.
