COSMIC STORY FOR MINISTRY, FOR LIFE (SPPS-8290)

(09/07/2021-12/17/2021)

Course Memo

Throughout this seminar-style course, and culminating in a final paper or project, students will bring the intersection of cosmology and (mainly, but not exclusively Christian) spirituality to bear on lived experience. The aim of this course is not to simply infuse static religious imagery and ossified expressions of faith with inspirations from the cosmic story, but to imagine, experience, and articulate how the dynamic and creative energies of the expanding universe may unsettle and transform our approaches to ministry and permeate our day-to-day lives. This introductory-level online course will be primarily asynchronous, with options for real-time remote and in-person interaction, and may be upgraded for students seeking advanced-level course credit.
