METHODS IN STUDY OF BUDDHISM (HR-1630)

(09/07/2021-12/17/2021)

Course Memo

This course centers on a range of methodological and theoretical lenses through which Buddhist-inflected human experience can be examined. It aims to expand perspective and increase flexibility in interpreting cultures, practices, events, and texts. It will broaden the range of ethical considerations and worldview assumptions with which a person can navigate a vastly diverse and ambiguous world. It hones critical reading and thinking skills as it stresses analytical writing. Background information will be provided by lecture and seminar-style discussion will drive the interaction.
