CONCURRENT FIELD STUDY I (FE-1005)
(09/07/2021-12/17/2021)
Course Memo
This course aims to engage students with an integration of their academic coursework, their vocational aspirations, and the experiences of their internship praxis. Class sessions are 3-hours weekly during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters, Wednesdays 9:40 AM - 12:30 PM. Students meet with Field Education instructors in class sessions—online and in person—for plenaries, discussions, cohort meetings, and presentations. There are no class sessions during Intersession; however, students are required to continue their praxis hours during January 2025 (based upon task schedule negotiated with mentor in Learning/Serving Covenant.)
Each student works for 15 hours per week at a field praxis internship (onpremises and/or virtually.) To take this course, student must confirm an approved field praxis placement and mentor with the Associate Director of Community Engaged Learning at least 2 weeks prior to the first session of the Fall course.
Completion of both Fall (FE-1005) and Spring (FE-1006) semesters meets the PSR M.Div. Congregational Track Field Praxis requirement. Pass/Fail only. Completion of both Fall and Spring Concurrent FE courses are REQUIRED to receive grade. No academic credit is given for only completing Fall semester.
