THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS (OTBS-5000)

This course introduces PhD and advanced MA students to the study of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Weekly meetings are divided into two parts. The first part will consist of reading various texts from the Dead Sea Scrolls together in Hebrew. The second part of each meeting will function as a seminar discussion on the range of historical, literary, and theological themes encountered in the corpus. Evaluation consists of weekly participation (in both parts of each meeting), two presentations, and a final research paper. This course meets the Advanced Hebrew requirement for PhD students in the GTU SATX Department. [Knowledge of biblical Hebrew.
