FAITH-BASED COMMUNITY ORGANIZING (RSFT-2300)

(01/24/2022-01/28/2022)

Course Memo

This course will introduce the arts and theology of social transformation where it is rooted in and guided by practices and beliefs of Christian faith traditions, critically and constructively engaged. Students will explore and develop beginning competencies (spiritual, theological, social theoretical, and strategic) for social transformation ministry as it involves faith communities “gathered” for worship and “sent” into the world. Emphasis will be on theologies, analysis, and action at the race-class-gender-earth nexus. For PLTS students, an emphasis will be on resources of Lutheranisms, including the ELCA and the global Lutheran communion.  This course is offered as a one-week intensive offered the week of January 22-26, 2024 from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
