(09/07/2021-12/17/2021)

Course Memo

This course is co-taught by Mark Hearn and Stephen Fowl. Candidates for ELCA ordination are required to complete 12 months of full-time internship in a congregation or an agency/congregation combination, under the supervision of an experienced pastor. The purpose of internship is to facilitate student vocational skill development and assist in student pastoral formation. Supervising pastors work with students in the various areas of pastoral ministry and reflect with them about their learning and growth in regular supervisory sessions. The internship lay committee also meets regularly with the intern and is involved in the preparation of the intern for ordained ministry. Quarterly and cumulative evaluation reports are submitted to the Office of Contextual Education by the supervisor, intern, and internship lay committee. Prerequisite: Endorsement or equivalent if in an ordination process. For PLTS students only. Course worth 2 credits during Intersession. [Faculty Consent required]
