THEOLOGY II: DEEPENING THE PRACTICE (ST-8288)

(01/31/2022-05/20/2022)

Course Memo

This course is the second in a two-course sequence that introduces students to Christian theology: what it is, what it does, and how it is done. (The first course is not a pre-requisite for taking this class, but it is strongly encouraged.) Although special emphasis is placed on the Anglican tradition, students encounter the concepts and themes that are central to the Christian theological imagination across its many forms. The course begins by examining several specific theological topics: pneumatology, Trinity, ecclesiology, sacramentology, eschatology, and Christian theological approaches to other religions. It ends with several weeks dedicated to exploring a wide range of theological methods. The central requirements of the course are active participation in asynchronous online discussions; brief, journal-like writing assignments responding to class readings; and four synthesis projects.
